When I sat and talked to my day (part 1)

There are some subjects which need further research in my opinion. Like for instance, what effect can a singer's voice have on a particular generation - like Elvis had on the youth of his times. Or, a Sinatra had over generations. Or, a Kishore Kumar had over multiple generations and continue to have. Another instance - which I want to talk about today is - the effect that a football has on the mind and soul of a spectator. Especially when it goes past the goal box and gets caught up inside the net. In short, what kind of psychological effect does a goal have on us? Interesting isn't it?

After I had a terrible night with practically no sleep, with bouts of doubts and a basket of anxieties, I went to my balcony and looked at the clear sky. It has stopped raining here in Bayern and the temperature is rising again! WHO has said, Europe is warming up faster than other continents. This, despite the fact that Europe takes care of its greenery arguable the most, its fuel consumption is at check and its building-constructions are restricted! Anyway, while looking at the sky, the thought came to my mind - what effect does certain things bring to us? Look at the sky - a clear sky can give us a lot of mental space, some good amount of clarity and a kind of big scale to think of something. And sky is not that far - just look up and you will find it.

In the same context, I kept on thinking what does a game of football do to us. The beautiful game, as they call it, tells us, you have to enter into another one's territory, craft your way, make a mark and come back. A goal is ultimately making a mark on an opposition area; it is as if, we are walking against the tide, riding against the wind, making small concrete moves here and there, building up a fight and then registering a stamp in someone else's territory. Football teaches us team feeling. When I did my masters, I read many journals, documents, articles - some have stayed back in memory, some lost. One of the interesting things I had read back then was about the different leadership models. There is one model called team leadership. It talks about how to build up a unified approach, how to keep communicating between team members, how to stand by each other in times of need and how to build up momentum together. Football is a curriculum that talks exactly of these things.

Soon it was time to go to the office. Back after work, I was still thinking of this topic - what does football teach us. Perhaps, it teaches us how to be robust and strong. A body contact game alright but there is art and passion embedded in it. So, this means, there will be obstacles but we need to convert them to our advantage. If a striker gets a great ball, it does not mean he can score right away. There might be no space to do an instep or an outstep. Instead he just needs to apply his common sense and pass it to his fellow player. But on the other hand, if he has the slightest opportunity to thump the ball into the net, he should be super-reactive and do it. Just like a Harry Kane who single-handedly got England reach the next stage.

Evening is usually cooking time for me. For many days, I have been on low-carb diet. I cooked some vegetables and had it with a boiled egg and some couscous. Since my new apartment still does not have a dinning table, I take the food to my balcony and eat it while watching the World Cup 2026 highlights. Then the final thought of the day came to my mind. How can it be that people across the world still like a ball entering into a box and getting tangled in a net. I say "still" because apparently this game of football is being played since the 3rd or 4th century BC! Can you imagine? For so many years we have loved a round entity to go from one part of a field to another and travel inside a box from a human body touch (leg or head)! And we never seem to get tired, and we always find a new way to get this done! No two goals in these many years have looked exactly the same!

Good night everyone! Happy World Cup viewing.
